If you happen to be extremely good at beating your friends up in videogames and love DC comics, then you might be happy to know that NetherRealm has announced an Injustice 2 esports grand tournament.
NetherRealm unveiled yesterday their own esports tournament for the highly anticipated DC fighting game Injustice 2. The league will be called the Injustice 2 Championship Series, and will feature teams from all over the world competing for $600,000 across all competitions. There will be four leagues including the Liga Latina Injustice 2 League in Latin America, the Path to Pro League in Europe, GameStop Hometown Heroes in the US, and the tournament finale – Injustice 2 Pro League. All four of the competitions for the first year will be sponsored by PS4.
The game itself is set to release in less than a week on May 16th, 2017, with the Championship series kicking off shortly after on May 26th. If you want to watch the action, you can tune in on their official esports site here. The global grand finals will kick off in October 2017, pitting the winners from all tournaments against each other for the $600,000 prize pool.
The establishment of an esports league so soon, even before the release of the game comes as a surprise to many. Nonetheless, another esports league for console players is more than welcome. It seems that there already some widely accepted favorites to win the prize including SonicFox and HoneyBee, who are both ranked first and second respectively on the Injustice World Rankings website.
